They eat a lot and grow big on the host plant.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Here i want to share the new Upper Primary Science Curriculum aims by the Curriculum Development Department, of Brunei Darussalam, 2002:</p>
<ol>
<li>To provide pupils with enjoyable science experiences which build on their natural interest and curiosity in their environment;</li>
<li>To provide pupils with the basic knowledge and understanding of science concepts to help them understand themselves and the environment they live in;</li>
<li>To develop in pupils the basic science process skilss (including the use of ICT) and to inculcate positive attitudes and values that are necessary for scientific enquiry and problem solving;</li>
<li>to appreciate the importance of protecting and conserving the environment from the personal and social (Melayu Isalm Beraja) perspectives; and to enhance understanding of Islamic values among pupils so as to enable them to develop their spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and aesthetic well being in a balanced way.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hey again.. one interesting question which come into my mind actually as a student who is taking teaching course is how do we make teaching and learning science interesting and meaningful?</p>
<p>Well let me share some friends&#8217; past experience with all of you which some of you might experiences the same situation and maybe some of you might experience different situation. During his primary school level, he DOES NOT like science very much. why? These are some of the reasons:</p>
<ol>
<li>Do not understand what the topic is all about</li>
<li>learning base on reading the book only</li>
<li>Learning base on doing the exercise given from the workbook</li>
<li>No practical acitvity</li>
<li>All informations are given by the teachers</li>
<li>The students do not have the ooportunity to learn the topic by themselves</li>
<li>Always in the classroom environment</li>
</ol>
<p>So what can we conclude here?</p>
<p>Teaching science to the children does not mean finishing the syllabus or for the exams only, however, inorder to make the students understand and have the idea of what science is, teacher has to teach science in interesting and meaningful ways. Since science are related to our lives on earth in our everyday life, children might have lots of question regarding science that teahcers have to prepare themselves in answering their questions.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:14.25pt;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black;font-family:&quot;">From the websites, nowadays there are lots of useful resources which we could share among ourselves in our teaching and learning. We don&#8217;t have to rely on 1 specific teaching or learning style only, for which there is <strong>no</strong> such thing as <em>&#8217;1 specific way of teaching n learning&#8217;</em>. From what i have learned before, teacher could use several of teaching strategies in their teaching to make the lesson more interesting and alive.</span><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black;font-family:&quot;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:14.25pt;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black;font-family:&quot;">Before we implement certain strategies, we have to know what topic that we are going to teach and the nature of our students so that both the teacher and students will benefit from the teaching and learning process. Some of the Teaching and Learning Strategies that might be interesting are:</span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For a start, i am sure all of us aware that this is a new era in life as well as education. If 10 years ago, we were mostly taught and learned in traditional ways which is &#8216;Chalk n Talk&#8217;, nowadays, we could find lots of interesting ways and strategies that teachers could use in varies their teaching styles. Student might also find some more interesting activities which they can use in their learning.</p>
<p>Using ICT in our teaching shows that we are aware of ICT life nowadays that not only adult knows how to use it, but children as early as kindergarten knows how to use computers to do their school works. As for example, a nephew of a friend who is in the kindergarten 2 right now in 1 of the private school here, knows how to make activities like a poster using the print artist program by himself. So, there are no other excuse, for not using ICT in teaching and learning if ICT makes it easier and convenience</p>
